Republicans Give Up on Governing
MADISON – Today, Republicans refused to take action on Governor Evers special session on justice reform and policing. Representative Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) released the following statement on the Republican’s failure to govern:
“This week, Governor Evers called for a special session to take up legislation on policing accountability and transparency. My Democratic colleagues and I showed up at the Capitol, ready to take action but the majority party failed to do their job. My Republican colleagues think this is a paid vacation at a time when our state is hurting from the tragedy and violence in Kenosha.
“Wisconsin Republicans have not shown up for work in 138 days. Our state facing a pandemic, economic uncertainty, and civil unrest due to the continued inequities we witness on a daily basis. A task force is an excuse for their continued inaction. It’s clear that Republicans have simply given up on governing.”
