Help bring those responsible for the killing of Darnell Woodard II to justice

Joint statement of Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II and Khalif J. Rainey November 19, 2019

By - Nov 19th, 2019 12:34 pm

The family of Camille Mays – a Milwaukee woman who has comforted numerous griefstricken families and parents who have lost sons, daughters and loved ones suddenly to violence – needs the public’s help to capture the person or persons responsible for the homicide earlier this month of her 21-year-old son, Darnell Woodard II.

On the night of November 10, Darnell and a 19-year-old man were in a vehicle in the 2700 block of N. 44th St. (at approximately 10:40 p.m.) when someone began firing shots at them. Darnell was killed and the other man suffered non-life-threatening wounds.

Ms. Mays is a board member of Milwaukee Crime Stoppers and has worked for years to help victims of violence, creating the Peace Garden Project MKE and organizing events to celebrate lives cut short. Now she is mourning the sudden loss of her son and she is the one who needs comfort and assistance.

We strongly urge the community to step up with any information on this case. You can call the Milwaukee Crime Stoppers hotline to help bring the perpetrator/s to justice: 414-224-TIPS (8477). You will remain anonymous and anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest can receive cash rewards up to $1,000.

If you prefer to contact Milwaukee Police, please do so immediately by calling 414-935-7360.
