MILWAUKEE — The following is the winter/spring 2018 calendar of events at the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum.
Special Exhibits
Let’s Play Railway!
Opening January 15
Let’s Play Railway! returns to the Museum’s Special Exhibits Gallery on January 15. Little engineers will enjoy a pretend ride on the rails as they step into our kid-sized train exhibit, featuring an interactive engine, cattle wagon and caboose. Let’s Play Railway! promotes early math and literacy, encourages problem solving and helps young children develop important social skills as they practice communicating, sharing and taking turns. Play tables with open-ended train building sets and a book nook with train-themed stories round out the fun and learning. Let’s Play Railway! is sponsored by Wm. K. Walthers, Inc.
Velocity
Opening January 22
Explore the science of motion in Velocity, an all-ages experience reopening in the Museum’s Special Exhibits Gallery on January 22. The whole family can roll and race golf balls on tracks that demonstrate momentum, gravity, speed, and distance in a fun interactive physics lab. As a ball makes its way on inverted loops, circular tracks, hills, and more, Velocity’s data visualization technology captures its real-time trajectory, velocity and motion in the form of colored lines of light. Visitors can see and compare their runs, along with other fun statistics, making them want to experiment again and again.
The Pizza Factory and Café
The Pizza Factory and Café is now open. Kids can role-play as the factory supervisor, a pizza maker in the mini manufacturing line or a worker in the packaging department in this pretend, kid-sized business sponsored by Palermo’s.
