Art Jamboree Gets Crazy

The event demonstrated how to make art using lasers, molten plastic, and even beer.

This month’s Art Jamboree by Art Milwaukee introduced the public to the Milwaukee Makerspace.  According to its website, the Milwaukee Makerspace is “a hacker/builder community where ideas are shared, innovation is fostered and the maker experience is hands-on.”  And on this night, the Milwaukee Makerspace was electric, not from the tools used to make things, but because of people experiencing the event.

Maker art was added to the monthly mix of live art performances, interactive crafts, and live music.  The maker pieces involved unusual mediums, such as lasers, molten plastic, and even beer.  Additionally, event goers were able to learn about a variety of machinery and technology used to make art. There were exhibits that ranged from how to make jewelry from rubber tires, to video games that used fruit as controllers. Lots of fun.
