Milwaukee County Supervisor Russell W. Stamper II is excited to welcome the return of the Fresh Coast Basketball Classic, featuring Winston Salem State, Northern Michigan, St. Leo University and last year’s winner Lincoln University, to Milwaukee for a two-day basketball tournament, beginning Friday, November 24.

The Fresh Coast Basketball Classic occurs annually Thanksgiving weekend and features local high schools and some of the biggest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) basketball teams from across the country.

“The Fresh Coast Basketball Classic is more than a basketball tournament,” noted Supervisor Stamper. “It’s an enriching opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate scholastic achievement and civic engagement.”

A college fair is held and scholarships are presented to deserving high school youth during the weekend event.

The official Fresh Coast Basketball Classic kick-off is Wednesday, November 22 with activities resuming Friday, November 24 and concluding with the championship tournament game Saturday, November 25.

More than 4,000 guests have attended the Fresh Coast Basketball Classic since its inception in 2007.
