MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Nov. 1, 2016) – With the holiday season just around the corner, VISIT Milwaukee is launching its second winter marketing campaign offering deep discounts for hotel stays, along with a Milwaukee Holiday Getaway prize package valued at $1,500.

The winter campaign is designed to promote leisure and overnight travel to the greater Milwaukee area, highlighting the region’s shopping and theater experiences. Featured are shopping destinations, such as Mayfair Mall and The Mayfair Collection in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward and the Milwaukee Public Market, as well as other popular regional shopping locations.

The campaign also promotes Milwaukee’s holiday events and theater productions, including Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival, A Christmas Carol, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Nutcracker, and more.

“Following the success of last year’s campaign, it only made sense to expand this year to highlight the region’s holiday-themed theater and entertainment options,” said Paul Upchurch, president & CEO of VISIT Milwaukee. “We anticipate a $2.3 million economic impact from this campaign for our community.”

Combined, hotel, retail and restaurant tourism contribute over $2.6 billion in economic impact to the region each year.

The Winter Shopping & a Show campaign is helped in part by a Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. The tourism grant will go towards print, online, radio and social media marketing and earned media efforts.
