UWM to host discussion on Flint water crisis and its local effects

The discussion is expected to include both the on-going water crisis in Flint, Michigan, and potential issues of water accessibility and the protection of water resources in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.

MILWAUKEE _ UW-Milwaukee will host “Fellows on Flint: Water-Centric Cities,” a colloquium by the university’s Global Studies Research Fellows at 6 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Kenwood Interdisciplinary Research Complex – room 1150, 3135 N. Maryland Ave.

Sponsored by UWM’s Center for International Education, The Global Studies Research Fellows consists of five UWM faculty members conducting research on the topic of Water-Centric Cities.

The colloquium will include brief statements by each faculty member, followed by a discussion and question-and-answer period.

The discussion is expected to include both the on-going water crisis in Flint, Michigan, and potential issues of water accessibility and the protection of water resources in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.

These UWM faculty members are Global Studies Research Fellows: Jenny Kehl, director, the Center for Water Policy; Lane Hall, English; Oriol Mirosa, sociology and global studies; Michael Nosonovsky, civil engineering and mechanics; and James Wasley, director, Institute for Ecological Design.

This event is free and open to the public.
