Supervisor Peggy Romo West Invites Public to Blessing and Dedication of Harambee Kitchen
Archbishop Listecki, Bishop Jeff Barrow to Bless New Kitchen on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Milwaukee County Supervisor Peggy Romo West today invited the public to a blessing and dedication of the new Harambee Kitchen at 2600 N. 2nd St. beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 23.
Catholic Archbishop Jerome Listecki and Lutheran Bishop Jeff Barrow will bless the kitchen, which has been relocated from Martin Luther King Drive to its new address inside All People’s Church on 2nd Street.
The newly renovated kitchen with dining area will open through the generous support of many interfaith parishes and groups throughout the Milwaukee area as well as Hunger Task Force. With the new kitchen, St. Vincent de Paul will be able to provide more than 200 hot, nutritious meals Tuesday through Saturday.
“This would not be possible without the generous support of Hunger Task Force and various interfaith parishes and groups,” Romo West said. “We want to get the word out about the new location, and I am grateful to Archbishop Listecki and Bishop Barrow for helping us open the new kitchen.”
Romo West said the kitchen is in need of meal providers as well as volunteers.
