Somehow it always rains at the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Lakefront Festival of Art, and this past weekend was no exception. But it was mostly good weather and a good crowd at the 50th anniversary celebration on Friday through Sunday, on the museum’s grounds along Lake Michigan.
The LFOA started as a two-day festival in 1963, with about 100 exhibitors. The family-friendly event has evolved to become one of the top 25 art festivals in the country, featuring work by more than 170 artists, including jewelry, painting, sculpture, photography and more.

Alas, it is the nature of sand art that it gets washed away eventually. It’s rather Buddhist when you think about it.
