Gov. Evers Encourages Eligible Wisconsinites to Get Out to Vote in the November 3rd General Election

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today delivered his weekly radio address encouraging eligible Wisconsin voters to get out to vote in the November 3rd General Election. To find your polling place, see what is on your ballot in this election, and check your voter registration status, Wisconsinites are encouraged to visit the Wisconsin Elections Commission webpage at MyVote.wi.gov.

All voters must bring a valid photo ID to vote, such as a driver’s license or passport. If you are not registered to vote, you may register in person at your polling place on Election Day. If you need to register to vote, you must bring a photo ID and a proof of residence document, such as a lease agreement or utility bill.

If you are still in line to vote at 8 p.m. on Election Day, be sure to stay in line to make sure you get to cast your ballot and ensure your voice is heard.

If you have an absentee ballot you would like to cast, it must arrive by 8 p.m. on Election Day. If you would like to turn in a ballot you received in the mail, you may deliver it by hand to your municipal clerk’s office during operating hours or utilize a drop box set up by your clerk, if available. Note that some clerks’ offices and drop boxes close before 8 p.m. on Election Day, and your best option on Election Day may be to return your absentee ballot to your assigned polling place by 8 p.m.

Please note: It is too late to return your absentee ballot in the mail in Wisconsin and have it counted on Election Day. Absentee voters are encouraged to deliver your ballot by hand by one of the methods above.

If you have already mailed your absentee ballot, you can check the status of the ballot, including whether your municipal clerk has received it, on the Wisconsin Elections Commission website.

You can contact your municipal clerk directly with any other voting- or election-related questions. To find your clerk, enter your address on the “My Municipal Clerk” page on the Wisconsin Elections Commission website.

A transcript of the governor’s radio address is below.

It’s thanks to all of them that Wisconsin has fair, safe, and free elections. And we’re darn proud of that.

Every eligible voter also needs a photo ID to vote, regardless of whether you need to register or not, so be sure to bring a valid photo ID to your polling place.

Remember: democracy is not a prophecy; it is self-actuating. Our democracy is up to us. So, let’s get out and vote. Thank you.
