Her Royal Highness Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has been making waves in the fashion world years before she married His Royal Highness William, Duke of Cambridge in 2011. However, with fame comes an even larger scrutiny for fashion faux pas and praise for fashionable achievements, and Her Royal Highness has risen to the occasion, becoming an international fashion star. From high profile royal galas to everyday errands, the Duchess of Cambridge looks flawless.

Here are a few of her brightest and most iconic dresses over the past few years that have captured the attention and praise of fashionistas around the globe.

Her Royal Highness was ravishing in a gorgeous royal red number by Alexander McQueen for Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond jubilee earlier this summer. While some questioned the boldness of the color (arguing that she was upstaging the lighter clad Queen Elizabeth II), the color and cut exquisitely compliments her skin tone and physique, making this outfit one of our favorites to date. She styled her ensemble with an asymmetrical matching hat by Lock & Co., one of her favorite pieces that she’s worn for a few other formal occasions. Paired with nude pumps and a delicate gold dolphin broach, no one can deny that this ensemble is a high fashion hit.

When arriving at the Calgary airport in July during North American tour last year, Her Royal Highness wore this darling yellow dress designed by Jenny Packham. This dress is perfect for both high profile engagements and everyday wear, featuring a flouncy, feminine and fun silhouette with charming oversized buttons. Once again, Kate perfectly styled her dress with nude platforms and a vintage box clutch, toning down her bold yellow dress.

This green stunner by Diane Von Furstenberg (the connoisseur of all things bold and beautiful), was worn by Her Royal Highness for a reception held in her and His Royal Highness William’s honor last summer. Like many of her fashion choices, Her Royal Highness balances the delicate line of modest and feminine effortlessly, choosing an ensemble that covers her shoulders and falls above her knees. She paired this Kelly green silk “Maja” dress with another stunning vintage clutch and black heels, and loose flowing curls — a simple but elegant styling choice.

Wearing another gorgeous Jenny Packham gown, Her Royal Highness turned heads at the Olympic concert event at Royal Albert Hall earlier this summer. She looks Grecian in this turquoise gown, which is draped perfectly on her petite frame. I especially love the lace appliques and delicate buttons up the back bodice of the dress, giving her flowing dress a delicate demeanor. Paired with a matching jewel encrusted belt and silver Jimmy Choo heels, this dress has been deemed an all time fashion critic favorite.

Her Royal Highness wowed fashionistas with a royal purple Issa dress during her Canadian visit last year. The chic jersey dress was paired with a fitting jeweled maple leaf broach (first worn by Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth on a visit to Canada in 1951) to match the Canada Day celebration the two were attending. Opting to tone down the vibrant purple hue, Catherine matched the dress with black stilettos for a softer look. Her loose bun and diamond drop earrings complimented her attire, giving her a simple and elegant overall look.

In a variety of stunning bright hues, Her Royal Highness Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has deserved the title of a true fashion maven. By managing to remain both feminine and modest, she has continued to rock the fashion world with bold and elegant ensambles. Although she has already come a long way, we’re excited to see more of her fashion triumphs in the coming years.
