In-Person Early Voting Begins October 20 in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE – The City of Milwaukee Election Commission (MEC) announces that in-person absentee voting, commonly known as early voting, begins Tuesday, October 20, for the November 3 General Election. Early voting will be available through Sunday, November 1.
City of Milwaukee residents can vote at any of the City’s 11 early voting locations, regardless of where they live within city limits. Hours vary by location and date, with weekday, evening, and weekend options available.
What voters need to know:
- Early voting dates: October 20–November 1, 2026.
- Locations and hours: A complete schedule is available at milwaukee.gov/earlyvoting.
- Photo ID: Voters must present an acceptable photo ID to receive a ballot.
- Voter registration: Eligible residents can register to vote at early voting locations through Friday, October 30. Proof of residence is required when registering.
- Absentee ballots: Voters who have already received an absentee ballot by mail may return it at an early voting location during scheduled hours.
“Early voting gives Milwaukee residents more flexibility to cast their ballots at a time and location that works best for them,” said Paulina Gutiérrez, Executive Director of the Milwaukee Election Commission. “With multiple locations and extended hours available across the city, we encourage voters to make a plan, check their registration status, and ensure they have an acceptable photo ID before heading to the polls. Whether voting early or on Election Day, the Milwaukee Election Commission’s goal is to make sure every eligible voter has the information they need to cast their ballot confidently.”
Voters can check their registration status, view a sample ballot, and find additional election information at MyVote.wi.gov.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
