Milwaukee Election Commission Announces Polling Location Changes for August 11 Partisan Primary
The Milwaukee Election Commission (MEC) is notifying voters of several polling location changes that will take effect for the August 11, 2026 Partisan Primary Election. These updates affect four wards in two aldermanic districts and just over 2,700 registered voters.
Voters in the impacted wards will be sent a postcard in the mail with details regarding their polling location. MEC is planning additional signage at the former and new sites.

Polling Location Changes
- Ward 143 (Formerly at Gwen T. Jackson School)
New location: Center Street Library, 2727 W. Fond du Lac Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53210
Reason: Due to MPS construction, the polling location has been temporarily moved. - Wards 145 and 169 (Formerly at Frances Starms Discovery Learning Center)
New location: Starms Early Childhood Center, 2616 W. Garfield Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53205
Reason: Due to MPS construction, the polling location has been temporarily moved - Ward 247 (Formerly at Lincoln Avenue School)
New location: Becher Terrace Apartments, 1800 W. Becher St., Milwaukee, WI 53215
Reason: The recent fire at Lincoln Avenue School
Voters can confirm their polling place at www.MyVote.WI.gov or by contacting the Milwaukee Election Commission.
Important Dates for Milwaukee Voters
The MEC encourages voters to keep these important dates in mind:
- July 22: Deadline to register to vote online or by mail.
- July 28: Early voting begins in the City of Milwaukee.
- July 31: MEC strongly recommends voters return completed absentee ballots by mail no later than 10 days before Election Day to ensure ballots arrive on time. After July 31, voters are encouraged to use a secure ballot drop box or another available ballot return option.
- August 6 at 5 p.m.: Deadline for most voters to request an absentee ballot by mail.
- August 9: Final day of early voting at select locations.
- August 11: Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. All absentee ballots must be received at our Central Count location, 1901 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. by 8 p.m. to be counted. Secure ballot drop boxes close at 6 p.m.
