  1. Joe Limo says:

I took up smoking cigars about 3-4 years ago and soon found this hidden gem on the south side, the atmosphere is like stepping into the past, where the gangsters wore suits and fedoras and treated women with respect and their pants were above their ass. The people that come in mostly wear suits and carry themselves with class, everyone is always welcomed home by Bob the owner and a warm goodbye when leaving. And the food is always fabulous, you don’t just get a pasta dish, you get a meal that hits you with a spicy zing, I think that might be the extra love that’s added by their chief Karyn.
And then you have the Ghosts, if you want an extra squeeze from your date that night take her on a Ghost tour, but don’t be surprised when one of the 15 Ghosts gives your girl a squeeze in the basement.

I’ve been to Shakers (which is also on the “haunted house” tour), and how strange to think of the prostitutes looking out of the second story window onto the street in-between appointments. (Many of them hung themselves there because they were so unhappy, and quite a few Mafia incidents – murders – supposedly occurred in the basement). Great article, as usual, Michael Horne!
