"Milwaukee is a true melting pot. There are so many different cultural influences you can see."
What is your job and its responsibilities?
I am part of a consortium of people, passionate about improving the future for Milwaukee’s youth. I make a difference for more than 6,000 Milwaukee children by managing the marketing, events, donor cultivation and strategic planning as the Development Manager for Playworks Wisconsin. In turn, Playworks Wisconsin provides a safe place for every kid to learn and play every day, all school-year long at 12 Milwaukee Public Schools, using the playground as an outlet for children to learn conflict resolution and leadership, reducing bullying and increasing class participation, leading to a healthier school culture.
How would you rate Milwaukee as a place to socialize and play?
The only thing I wish for in Milwaukee is warmer weather! Milwaukee is in its prime during summertime – it would be nice to have an extended summer season to take full advantage of all Milwaukee has to offer, especially the lakefront activities like sailing and beach volleyball.
The pedal tavern – I have yet to try! Serious answer… I believe Milwaukee is a true melting pot. There are so many different cultural influences you can see through artwork, festivals, buildings, social groups, events and more. It’s neat to see all these ideas mesh together to make Milwaukee great.
What is your favorite Milwaukee building?
The North Point Lighthouse because of the beautiful view of the Lake!
Do you see this as a good city for young people?
Milwaukee has so many opportunities to advance your career, it has a great social scene and many ways to volunteer. I also like the offerings for active young (in mind and body) people along the lakefront, at the many fitness clubs and the hundreds of 5Ks and bike rides hosted here.
