Packers Salute U.S. Army Veteran Michael Lomax for ‘Operation Fan Mail’
Packers, Network Health honored Lomax during Thursday’s game against the Falcons;
The Green Bay Packers and Network Health paid special tribute to U.S. Army veteran Michael Lomax during Thursday evening’s game against the Atlanta Falcons for ‘Operation Fan Mail.’
This year marks the 20th season of Operation Fan Mail, the program that recognizes military families and veterans at each Packers home game.
Lomax enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2018 as an infantryman, ultimately earning the rank of Staff Sergeant before exiting the service in 2026 after serving his entire career in the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. A veteran of three combat deployments, Lomax earned multiple honors throughout his career, including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and awards for Operation Inherent Resolve.
A native of Cottage Grove, Minn., Lomax grew up a lifelong Packers fan in a dedicated football family originally from the Milwaukee and Madison areas. Regardless of where his three combat deployments took him, the Packers followed; never leaving the country without his Clay Matthews jersey, an American flag wrapped around his body armor and his favorite beat-up black Converse shoes.
This deep love for the team and military service runs through the family. His father, Bryan, is a shareholder and lifelong fan, and his brother, William, served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and earned the rank of senior airman. Lomax attended tonight’s game with his father, his brother and his wife, Victoria.
Operation Fan Mail, which debuted in 2007, is designed to honor those who are on active duty or are veterans of the military, along with their families. In addition to being recognized on the video boards prior to the game, selected families will receive four tickets to the game, courtesy of Network Health. The Packers and Network Health will host a family at each 2026 home game and recognize them on the field during pregame activities. A total of 228 families have been saluted during the past 19 seasons.
To choose families, the Packers and Network Health are asking interested families, or friends of eligible families, to submit an essay, 500 words or less, on why a particular fan should be saluted next season.

Families intended for recognition are those that have a member of their family serving on active duty, or a member of their family who is a veteran. The family member can be a spouse, mother, father, son, daughter or sibling.
