Love Songs – Au revoir

By - Feb 13th, 2010 05:00 am

You knew this was coming: the day we’d have to say good-bye. But we hope you enjoyed the ride and were thrilled with the varied voices and sounds that whispered (or screamed) in the name of love. Until next year, remember love’s true meaning and hold on tight to the ones you treasure most. -TCD

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing.

TCD’s marketing intern Emily Thungkaew‘s Picks:

“(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” — Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley: I have to admit that I had to look up the artists because all I can remember is Patrick Swayze lifting Jennifer Grey above his head as the chorus swelled in that final, infamous scene in Dirty Dancing. For me, this song represents two kinds of love: love for one of the best movies of all time, and love for the one thing I can’t get enough of. [Ed. note: Does she mean Patrick Swayze?]

“All the Way” — Frank Sinatra: The true definition of love, Frank spells out how it has to feel to be real.

“Let’s Stay Together” — Al Green: This song makes me so happy that I just have to snap along with the smooth rhythm from the ever-so-cool Mr. Green. His message is clear: no fighting, just loving.

Annemarie Chapdelaine, TCD’s social media intern:

“Throw Your Arms Around Me” — Cover by Eddie Vedder and Liam Finn (originally written by Hunters and Collectors): I always liked the Crowded House cover of this song, but when I saw Eddie Vedder with Liam Finn, it immediately became my favorite version. It has a very pretty melody, and it’s easy to sing along with.

“Everything” — Alanis Morissette: I just love the honesty of this song. When I first heard the lyrics, I thought, “Wow, that’s how love is.”

“You’re The First, The Last, My Everything” — Barry White: I’ll be honest, I like dancing to this song.

(What about you? Hear more below. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!)
