Unique Art at Carroll
Unique art installation will be on display at Carroll University
WAUKESHA, WIS.—Award-winning photographer Eddee Daniel will display his new exhibit, “Accidental Art: Construction Fences in the Landscape,” at Carroll University from Sept. 3-Oct. 11, 2009, free and open to the public. A closing reception will be on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m.-noon. The photography and mixed media installation will be in the Marceil Pultorak Atrium Gallery of the Humphrey Memorial Chapel and Art Center, 238 N. East Ave., Waukesha. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 2-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Daniel provokes a variety of questions. Where does this art begin, with the fences themselves or with the photographer who sees them and makes a composition? What do we consider art or aesthetic? What do the fences symbolize? Do we perceive them in our communities or take them for granted, brightly colored and ignored? What kind of world are we trying to construct behind them and, ultimately, all around them?
