Milwaukee, WI – Between October 2016 and February 2017, ZIP MKE has collected over 1,000 photographs, from over 100 photographers, of all 28 zip codes in the city of Milwaukee.

After a successful opening and gallery run at the Milwaukee Public Library‘s Central Branch, ZIP MKE’s groundbreaking, crowdsourced photography exhibition has traveled–with a selection of new photos–to the Tippecanoe Branch.

The exhibit will run from February 21-March 20. On Saturday, February 25th, ZIP MKE will host a community celebration at Tippecanoe from 3pm-5pm to kick-off the exhibit.

County Supervisor Jason Haas and Connie Wilson, the Chairperson of the Garden District Neighborhood Association, will help kick off the festivities.

Feature photographers include Leroy Skalstad and John Koster, as well as Barbara Miner, Larry Chatman, Pat Robinson, and Paul Matzner (a smaller portion of the work exhibited at the Central Branch will continue on to Tippecanoe). A special set of images from 53207 will also be featured.

Anticipate a chance to hang out with your neighbors, meet new ones from around the city, and experience the broad diversity and beauty of Milwaukee’s faces and places as seen through the lenses of your fellow residents.

The next stops for the ZIP MKE exhibition will be the Mill Road Library from March 21-April 25, the Atkinson Library from April 26-May 31, and finally the East Library from June 1-June 30.

I was at the first ZIP MIlwaukee show at the Central Library, and it was great – talks, food, viewing, and one could hold up a sign containing your zipcode to have your photograph taken! I bet the Tippecanoe event will be just as much fun!
