The Marquette University women’s soccer team (2-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) opened the home portion of its 2025 campaign with a 2-0 win vs. North Dakota State (1-1-0) on Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields.
Marquette finished the afternoon with a 14-5 advantage in shots and a 12-1 margin in corner kicks.“We did a great job this first week applying our game plan and the result was a pair of victories,” head coach Chris Allen said. “We have asked for two goals a match to be the standard and to tighten up our defensive organization and it’s been awesome seeing that and other aspects of the game results in wins.”
The Golden Eagles controlled possession in the first half and finally found the back of the net on the team’s eighth corner kick at the 39:31 mark. Newcomer Paige Dziedzic‘s corner found the right foot of Emily Fix and her half volley beat the NDSU netminder inside the far post.
Senior Abby Ruhland, who has missed all of the last two seasons with injury, headed home her first-career goal at the 77:59 mark to give MU a late two-goal advantage.
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles travel across down to face Milwaukee at 7:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, Aug. 21.
