WMV Welcomes Slowey on as Spotlight Specialist; Also Introducing Two Additional Roles

Ben Slowey is a music journalist, publicist, and enthusiast who graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in Journalism, Advertising & Media Studies in 2018. He is the Music Director of the blog Breaking and Entering covering all things local music in the Greater Milwaukee Area. He hosts the audiovisual podcast Mr. Nice Guy, where he interviews individuals and groups about love and fear, passion, and creativity. On the side, he freelances writing press releases for local artists as well.

Ben + WMV

Ben will be our new Spotlight Specialist; blogging on different WMV member musicians, curating playlists featuring them for patrons specifically as well as the general public, and doing the occasional social media takeover at our events – helping to promote our musicians, venue partners, and those patrons at our events. Welcome, Ben!

WMV Green Room Member Dennis Hawk will be our Spotify Explorer. As one who has about 16,000 monthly listeners himself on the platform, he is very savvy as to how it works. But, he always wants to learn more. He will offer weekly updates for WMV musician members.

We welcome local hip hop artist/Green Room member Twan Mack as emcee of our new WMV Music Collab at No Studios in Milwaukee that will be in-person beginning in mid-June. Musicians may bring their instruments, come hang out, and just have a good time. Open to anyone. These will be held on Saturdays from 2:00-4:00 PM.

The mission of Wisconsin Music Ventures is as follows: Building community through music, and music through community; patron-supported live music experiences featuring local musicians in distinctively Wisconsin settings. Since COVID-19 WMV has added an emphasis on helping musicians to thrive in Wisconsin.
