WLAX Earns 19-9 Win Over Xavier Saturday Afternoon in BIG EAST Home Opener
Golden Eagles win fourth in a row, move to 2-0 in BIG EAST play
The Marquette University women’s lacrosse team (8-3, 2-0 BIG EAST) won their fourth game in a row after defeating Xavier, 19-9, on Saturday at Valley Fields.
The Golden Eagles were led by the trio of Meg Bireley, Tess Osburn and Hanna Bodner who combined for 15 of MU’s 19 goals.Bireley had seven goals and one assist for her third game of the season with eight-or-more points. Osburn added five goals and one assist for her sixth six-point game of the season.
Bodner scored a hat trick and added one assist for her fourth-straight game of three-or-more goals.
Marquette led 15-3 at halftime and had a season-low nine turnovers.
NOTABLES:
- Marquette is off to its second-best start in program history through 11 games at 8-3.
- Taylor Kotschevar had a career-high seven draw controls and career-high tying three caused turnovers.
- Lauren Grady had her fourth game this season with two assists and had a career-high three caused turnovers.
