WisDems Black Caucus Chair Celebrates John Lewis Day

MADISON, Wis. — Today, in celebrating John Lewis Day, WisDems Black Caucus Chair Nick Truog released the following statement:

“John Lewis is a modern father of democracy; an absolute titan of a leader who did whatever it took to defend the freedoms we too often take for granted. From being nearly beaten to death on the Edmund Pettus Bridge 70 years ago, to being a renowned figure in the people’s house, John Lewis was the embodiment of courage and showed us every day what it meant to put values into action. So let today be a reminder to all of us that want our freedoms to live on that we need to be ready to get into some ‘good trouble’ – that’s how we protect our rights and move our country forward.”
