MADISON, Wis. — Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, which will benefit every single neighborhood in Wisconsin. This unparalleled federal investment in Wisconsin’s physical and digital infrastructure will ensure that no matter where you live or what you do, you can remain connected to the rest of the state.

President Biden’s infrastructure plan builds on the tremendous investments spearheaded by Governor Evers — who has already begun to undo the damage caused by the Kleefisch-Walker administration’s neglect of our roads and broadband. Gov. Evers’ first budget included nearly a half-billion dollars in transportation funding, and even during the pandemic hundreds of road improvement projects were moving forward, some under budget and ahead of schedule. He also passed the largest broadband investment in state history, expanding access to 9,300 businesses and 150,000 homes.

In response to the passage of President Biden’s infrastructure plan, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler issued the following statement:

“The passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal represents the Democratic Party’s continued commitment to and investment in Wisconsin’s future. Families across the state will sleep easier at night knowing that their roads are in better condition, that their drinking water is clean, and that their bridges are more resilient to the impacts of climate change — all thanks to President Biden and Democrats in Congress.

“This is in direct contrast to Ron Johnson, who continues to prioritize partisanship over doing the job he was elected to do. In fact, not only did he vote against this bill, but he admitted he didn’t even read the bill before voting against Wisconsin’s interests.”
