Wisconsin Women in Government Announces State Legislature Board Members
Wisconsin Women in Government, a bi-partisan organization made up of women in public service positions and government-adjacent jobs, is excited to announce the two-state legislature representatives on the Board of Directors.
Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara (R, Appleton) and Representative Lee Snodgrass (D, Appleton) join 22 other women to comprise the full board. The Board has members from city, county, and state government entities as well as non-profit groups that work with government sectors. WWIG leaders appreciate the experience Senator Cabral-Guevara and Representative Snodgrass, as policymakers, bring to the organization.“Their leadership and experience at the state level will be invaluable to furthering our mission to empower and support women in government. Their perspectives will help shape our programs, mentorship initiatives, and advocacy efforts, ensuring WWIG continues to provide meaningful opportunities for women across Wisconsin,” states Allison Cramer, WWIG President.
Board positions are two-year terms. Each term consists of one Democrat and one Republican from the state legislature. WWIG alternates the political party that comes from each house of state government, so the next term will include a Republican from the assembly and a Democrat from the Senate.
WWIG is a statewide non-profit organization with a mission to inspire and educate women in government. Through networking events, development opportunities, and scholarships for college women intending to join the public sector after graduation, WWIG looks for ways to uplift and celebrate women throughout the state who are working in government or with the government in some capacity.
WWIG is fully volunteer-based and headquartered in Madison. Its upcoming Growing Alliances in Leadership & Advocacy (GALA) event will be held on April 30, 2025, at Monona Terrace. More information regarding tickets, speakers, and award nomination forms will be announced in the coming weeks.
Wisconsin Women in Government was founded in 1987 to celebrate and support talented women who choose a career in government service. Over the past 35 years, WWIG has awarded over $1.2 million in scholarships, including undergraduate scholarships, to women pursuing careers in government service. WWIG has also provided numerous networking, professional development, and leadership training opportunities for professional women.NOTE: This press release was submitted to Urban Milwaukee and was not written by an Urban Milwaukee writer.
