Wisconsin Public Radio Launches Statewide ‘WPR Road Trip’ Live Event Series with Four Broadcasts of ‘The Larry Meiller Show.’

This summer Wisconsin Public Radio is launching a new event series called the “WPR Road Trip.” The series kicks off with four live out-of-studio broadcasts of “The Larry Meiller Show” from July through September. Listeners will have a chance to meet Larry in person, watch the show live, and interact with the show’s guests and staff. The four dates and locations are:

Tuesday, July 16 – Northern Sky’s Theater’s Gould Theater, Fish Creek, Wis.

Tuesday, Aug. 20 – Beaver Creek Reserve, Fall Creek, Wis.

Monday, Aug. 26 – Food + Farm Exploration Center in Plover, Wis.

Wednesday, Sept. 11 – Black River Beach Community Center in La Crosse, Wis.

“The Larry Meiller Show” covers environmental and consumer issues, gardening and other helpful “how-to” topics, and Wisconsin culture and lifestyles weekdays 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on WPR News stations and wpr.org. Listeners are invited to ask their questions and share their comments live by phone, email and text.

“We’re so excited to be working with these four local partners,” WPR Regional Director Lisa Nalbandian said. “We hope listeners who come for the show will also spend a little extra time exploring these great, local treasures.”

The four communities hosting the broadcasts each showcase different aspects of Wisconsin’s richness and beauty. Door County’s Northern Sky Theater in Fish Creek performs plays and musicals each summer on both outdoor and indoor stages. Fall Creek’s Beaver Creek Reserve near Eau Claire offers year-round outdoor education and recreation programs. Plover’s Food+Farm Exploration Center offers fun and informative agricultural and food activities. And La Crosse’s Black River Beach is a gem of a city recreation area with a community center offering programs and event space year-round.

Nalbandian said she was looking forward to the broadcasts and the opportunity to connect WPR News and WPR Music with communities across the state. “WPR Road Trips will give audiences in more places more opportunities to engage in person with our news, culture and music programs and hosts. Larry is a radio legend, inducted into the WBA [Wisconsin Broadcasters Association] Hall of Fame, so starting this new effort with his program in these amazing locations around Wisconsin felt like the perfect fit.”
