Wisconsin Institute for Citizenship and Civil Dialogue seeking student applicants for free expression workshop
MADISON, Wis.—The Wisconsin Institute for Citizenship and Civil Dialogue (WICCD) will hold a workshop for Universities of Wisconsin students focused on free speech and academic freedom on Saturday, April 26, at UW-La Crosse. The day-long workshop is open to 36 students who must complete a set of readings to prepare for it.
This day-long workshop offers students the opportunity to learn from experts, engage in discussions about challenging cases, and analyze campus policies. This workshop is a non-credit bearing educational enrichment experience for students enrolled full time at one of the Universities of Wisconsin.
“The workshop is a great opportunity for students and another demonstration of the Universities of Wisconsin’s commitment to the principles of free expression and civil dialogue,” said UWs President Jay Rothman.
A full agenda, application, and more information can be found at wisconsin.edu/wiccd/.
“We are very pleased to provide this workshop opportunity to students across the Universities of Wisconsin,” said Tim Shiell, WICCD interim director. “Having students who understand basic principles of free expression and academic freedom as well as some of their nuances and complexities enables the 13 universities to build on their current strong foundations and put the UWs on the road to national leadership in promoting and protecting free expression and academic freedom.”
