Wisconsin Democrats to Host Veep Cast Reunion Hosted by Stephen Colbert
MADISON, Wis. — Today, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin announced Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the cast of Veep will reunite for a live virtual grassroots fundraising event, hosted by Stephen Colbert. During this one-of-a-kind event, the Veep cast will do a table read of the show’s third season episode, “Crate”—the episode where Vice President Selina Meyer finds out the President is stepping down.
This event is the latest virtual event in a series pioneered by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin that combines entertainment and politics to excite people to get involved and get out the vote. In 2020, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin made history with its Princess Bride cast reunion, a groundbreaking live event that raised more than $4 million to power its successful campaign to win Wisconsin for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The Veep Reunion and Table Read event marks the third live WisDems virtual fundraising event with the Veep cast, following a wildly successful cast reunion in 2020 and a special crossover event with the cast of The West Wing in 2022.
“We’re thrilled to team up with the incomparable Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the cast of Veep to deliver this year’s unforgettable and hilarious live virtual WisDems event, this time hosted by the one and only Stephen Colbert,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler. “Our grassroots supporters power our statewide organizing, and it’s that organizing strength that helps us elect Democrats and chart a new way forward in Wisconsin. Events like this celebrate our long-time supporters and let us reach even further to the people who will fuel our work to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, Tammy Baldwin, and Democrats across Wisconsin this November.”
“We tried to find an old episode where President Meyer accused immigrants of eating dogs and cats,” said Julia Louis-Dreyfus. “But back when we were making Veep, that seemed insane and over the top.”
