Wisconsin Democrats on Tony Wied’s Primary Victory

MADISON, Wis. — Following Tony Wied‘s victory in the GOP primary in the 8th Congressional District, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler issued the following statement:

“Tony Wied’s victory in the 8th Congressional District primary tonight demonstrates the MAGA takeover of the GOP, a turn into full-on Trump-Vance weirdness exactly when Wisconsin wants it least. Trump’s hand-picked Congressional candidate will be running this fall on a platform of abortion bans, overturning elections, and giving handouts to billionaires while sticking the middle class with the bill. Dr. Kristin Lyerly is a common-sense, pro-freedom leader who doesn’t think politicians should be overriding people’s private medical decisions. The contrast between Dr. Lyerly and backwards-looking MAGA Tony Wied couldn’t be clearer, and 8th Congressional District voters are poised to demonstrate why Wisconsin’s motto is ‘Forward.'”
