Where Will You Be For The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports?
Potawatomi Hotel & Casio to celebrate 142nd Kentucky Derby with multiple venues to take in the big race.
MILWAUKEE (April 26, 2016) – If Louisville, Ky., isn’t in the cards this year for the Kentucky Derby, Potawatomi Hotel & Casino is a sure bet. Potawatomi will be the place to be to make wagers, order a mint julep, watch the action and revel in “the most exciting two minutes in sports.”
Again this year, the casino will offer three separate venues to take in the big race, with post time scheduled for 5:24 p.m. Saturday May 7.
“With a great atmosphere, Potawatomi will be the perfect place to celebrate for both the racing enthusiast and the casual fan,” said Paul Lurenz, Jr., off-track betting manager for the property. “Additionally, Potawatomi Hotel & Casino is the only place in town to make a wager on the biggest thoroughbred race of the year.”
The Woodland Dreams Ballroom will be open from 2-6 p.m. for those 21 and over. Guests can take in the race on several large screens throughout the room. Wagering will be available on self-service machines at the party, which is open to guests 21 and over.
The ballroom will also be home for the casino’s annual Kentucky Derby hat contest. Registration will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the program sales booth near the casino’s Sky Walk. Judging will take place at 3:30 p.m. and a top-10 will be introduced to partygoers in the ballroom. The lucky winners will walk away with cash prizes.
In addition, guests can wager and watch the race in the casino’s Off-Track Betting Room where doors will open at 8:30 a.m. May 7, and in the Northern Lights Theater open to the public at 9 a.m.
As in previous years, Fire Keeper’s Club members will receive a commemorative Kentucky Derby mint julep glass when they present their wagering ticket at the Off-Track Betting program sales booth (while supplies last).
