Vukmir: The time is now for Foxconn
"Any reluctance to support this deal makes no sense to me."
MADISON, Wis. — State Sen. Leah Vukmir, R–Brookfield, Tuesday called upon her Senate colleagues to swiftly move the Foxconn bill so it can be voted on soon.
“I am ready to vote for the Foxconn bill and am urging my fellow senators to take it up without delay. I do not want any hesitation on our part to jeopardize Wisconsin’s opportunity for this transformative investment in our economy.
“Any reluctance to support this deal makes no sense to me. We have been presented with an incredible opportunity that puts Wisconsin workers first and will have a ripple effect across our entire state. Wisconsin wins with Foxconn.
“The fact that we even have this opportunity is a result of state Republicans’ hard work to lower taxes, cut red tape and get government out of the way so businesses want to bring jobs here. There is no room for mistakes. In today’s environment where states have to be competitive to bring jobs to their citizens, we must close this deal — and now.
“We cannot wait any longer. Let’s get this bill to the Senate floor.”

Vukmir : “get government out of the way so businesses want to bring jobs here.”
-Giving foxconn massive subsidies is hardly getting gov’mt. out of the way.
-Wouldn’t taking the state money out of the deal would be getting out of the way ??? All business in Wisconsin would want the subsidies foxconn is getting now. ( Reduced or no taxes & lower energy rates )
Vukmir : “get government out of the way so businesses want to bring jobs here.”
And not just Vukmir right. Pretty much every single Republican in the state.
When the republicans mention ‘Free Market’ just transpose ‘the 1%’s 50%share’ into its place and you will get their true intent and meaning.
Vukmir, espousing the virtues of free enterprise, while in the same breath advocating for the government to choose a winner to the tune of 3 billion dollars. How she is able to reconcile these two glaring contradictions is one of the great mysteries of the world.
She is not looking then. That is ignorance to the max or just in cahoots with large corporate collusion with the present state government. The people don’t want this under these terms. We don’t want to pay the wages so big business can collect the profits and avoid tax responsibility. She and other GOP want to rush it because they know the public majority does not support it. Bad governing. Very unresponsive and irresponsible. Tyranny to force these taxes on us.
Putting workers first, LOL. Vukmir = right-wing corporate tool.
I can believe she used the word “environment” in her press release. The horrific effects of allowing Foxconn to have absolutely no environmental restrictions is unconscionable, reckless and wrong.
Wonder what the kickback is for ALEC Queen/potential Senate candidate Vukmir is? Bet it’s a sizable one for this amoral crook.
A lot of businesses in Waukesha County stand to benefit from this huge investment. Rep. Vukmir is spot-on. Let’s get this done!
