The Hilton Garden Inn Milwaukee Airport hotel has changed hands in a $13.4 million transaction.

According to state real estate records, the hotel, 5890 S. Howell Ave., was sold by a Madison-based company to newly created THG HGIMKE LLC. THG is registered to a Mason, Ohio address that is home to a multi-tenant medical office building.

The three-story hotel has 144 guest rooms, according to city assessment records. It was constructed in 2010.

The seller was an affiliate of Madison-based Raymond Management Company. Another Raymond affiliate continues to own the Home 2 Suites hotel immediately to the north at 5880 S. Howell Ave. The two properties share a driveway. A third affiliate of Raymond owns an undeveloped 7.3-acre lot behind the two hotels.

The Hilton property has an assessed value of $14.3 million. It includes a 3.7-acre lot with the 85,265-square-foot building.

The airport hotel is one of three Hilton Garden Inn-branded properties in the city. There is a downtown hotel in the former Loyalty Building, 611 N. Broadway, and a northwest conference center at 11600 W. Park Pl., which was recently acquired by its lender.

A new owner for the hotel is one of a handful of changes for that stretch of Howell Avenue. Across the street, the Airport Lounge strip club recently announced its closure. Several other airport hotels have been sold in the past year.

The Hilton Garden Inn flag is a midpriced, full-service hotel brand operated by Hilton Worldwide. Positioned between limited-service hotels and higher-end Hilton brands, Hilton Garden Inn properties typically cater to business travelers and families seeking modern amenities without luxury pricing. Most locations include an on-site restaurant and bar, made-to-order breakfast, meeting space, a fitness center and an indoor pool. The brand is one of Hilton’s largest and most widely distributed flags, with hundreds of properties across the United States and internationally.
