Vos challenger emerges: Joel Jacobsen announces his candidacy for the 63rd Assembly District in the State of Wisconsin

BURLINGTON, WI — Return candidate Joel Jacobsen is gathering nomination signatures to put him on the ballot for Assembly in Wisconsin’s 63rd District. Amid a jolting resignation by Bob Prailes last week, Joel has stepped in to be a voice for the people of southeastern Wisconsin. We face a time of unprecedented crisis and uncertainty. Partisan politics have further divided the state, as evidenced by the gross mishandling of Wisconsin’s April election, and the current representative Robin Vos no longer works with the Governor or the minority party to help to solve urgent problems. We need representation that will end the political dysfunction and bring true progress and fairness to our district and state.

A Statement from Joel Jacobsen:

“I am running again because Wisconsinites deserve to have their voices heard. It is undemocratic and contrary to American ideals for prospective candidates to be bullied into silence.

Due to the shocking resignation of Bob Prailes for the candidacy of the 63rd Assembly District, I have elected to begin my campaign to be on the ballot for the 63rd. Bob was trying to improve our political climate, and I wholeheartedly supported his campaign. Part of the thanks he received were ugly personal attacks and fear for his family. We now face the challenge of the ongoing pandemic in Wisconsin and a safe rebuild of our economy. I believe I have the tools and character to represent our district in a vastly less divisive fashion than the current occupant.”

Joel Jacobsen has served as an Alderman for the City of Burlington and is a graduate from UW-La Crosse in finance and economics. He has enjoyed a 40-year career spanning industries including insurance, IT, real estate and hospitality. Joel and his wife, Jerie Moe, a Burlington native, have been married for 39 years, and they have two children, both graduates of Wisconsin universities. Joel and Jerie have been active members of the Burlington community for 25 years.
