Volk Field employee passes away due to COVID-19 complications

The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Chad Christiansen, 49, of Baraboo, Wisconsin due to complications from COVID-19.

Christiansen passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, and he was employed as a civilian DMA security officer at Volk Field Air National Guard Base.

The entire DMA family mourns his passing and sends its thoughts and prayers to Christiansen’s family during this difficult time. He will be remembered as a trustworthy, dedicated employee devoted to the safety and security of the base, and he will be sorely missed by his DMA family and all of Volk Field.

Christiansen had been employed at Volk Field since February 2020 and was formerly of Charlotte, Iowa.
