Vliet Street Business Association Announces Winners of First Annual Business Awards
The Vliet Street Business Association recently announced the winners their first annual Business Awards at a happy hour sponsored by LISC Milwaukee and hosted by Meritage (5921 W. Vliet) on March 10.
The Vliet Street Business Association recently announced the winners their first annual Business Awards at a happy hour sponsored by LISC Milwaukee and hosted by Meritage (5921 W. Vliet) on March 10.
At the event, Common Council President Michael Murphy introduced the winners, including:
- Valentine Coffee Company (5918 W Vliet): Emerging Business Award
- Urban Sense (5402 W Vliet): Property Investment Award
- Pat Mueller of Heritage West Properties (4303 W Vliet): Community Hero Award
- Roots Underground Outfitters (5328 W Vliet): Storyteller Award
- Rainbow Booksellers (5704 W Vliet): Business of the Year
“We congratulate this year’s class of winners,” said Beth Haskovec, Vice President of the Vliet Street Business Association. “They represent pillars who have helped the district grow steadily over the years, along with emerging businesses who have helped enliven the street over the past year.”
Any business within the West Vliet Street business district, which runs along Vliet Street from 43rd to 62nd Streets, was eligible to be nominated. Nominations were accepted through January 3 of this year.
In all, 44 nominations were made for businesses in five categories. The judges who selected the winners consisted of business and community leaders Jim Grote from Cream City Construction, Marjorie Rucker from LISC Milwaukee and Bess Zoch from Washington Park Partners.
