MADISON, Wis.—Amy B. Bogost, President of the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents, and Jay Rothman, President of the Universities of Wisconsin, have appointed an 11-member Search and Screen Committee to help identify the next UW–Eau Claire chancellor.

Regent Karen Walsh will chair the Search and Screen Committee. Arthur Grothe, Professor of Theatre Arts, will serve as vice chair. Other members of the committee are:

“UW-Eau Claire is at the heart of what makes northwestern Wisconsin thrive,” Bogost said. “UW-Eau Claire’s strong commitment to hands-on learning, innovation, and undergraduate research prepares students to lead in fields ranging from nursing and biomedical science to business and education. The next chancellor will build on this exceptional foundation, advancing the University’s mission of academic excellence, community engagement and transformative impact for Wisconsin and beyond.”

UW–Eau Claire enrolls about 9,500 students and offers a broad array of undergraduate and graduate programs, including nationally recognized offerings in nursing, business, and the liberal arts. The university is known for its emphasis on undergraduate research, study abroad, internships and other high-impact practices. It maintains strong partnerships with regional employers, civic organizations, and other educational institutions, playing a key role in the economic and cultural vitality of western Wisconsin.

The Search and Screen Committee is expected to convene in the coming weeks to receive its formal charge and review search procedures. A team of staff from Universities of Wisconsin Human Resources, the Office of the Board of Regents, and the executive search firm WittKieffer will support the committee throughout the process.

The committee will identify and interview candidates. After the committee has established a list of qualified candidates who merit further consideration, a Special Regent Committee will review candidates forwarded by the Search and Screen Committee, interview finalists, and forward a hiring recommendation for consideration by the Board of Regents. The Special Regent Committee will include Regents Walsh, Manydeeds III, Nixon, Palzewicz, and Traynor and will be chaired by Walsh.

The successful candidate will require the approval of the full Board of Regents.
