Two Golden Eagles Earn BIG EAST WLAX Weekly Awards
Bireley collects third BIG EAST Attacker of the Week honor this season
NEW YORK – Marquette University women’s lacrosse collected two BIG EAST weekly honors, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Meg Bireley is BIG EAST Attacker of the Week while Leigh Steiner earns BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week honors.
Bireley had 13 goals last week, including a career-high eight goals at Ohio State on Tuesday. Eight goals tied the program’s record for goals in a game.
Steiner had career-highs in goals (4), shots (13) and shots on goal (9) against Eastern Michigan.
The senior captain had two goals, one assist and five draw controls at Ohio State. This marks back-to-back weekly honors for Steiner, who earned a spot on the weekly honor roll last week.
Marquette returns to action Friday, March 22 against Central Michigan. Faceoff is at 3 p.m. CT at Valley Fields.
