Try the 2025 Hb Oktoberfestbier at Two Keg Tappings

By - Sep 1st, 2025 01:10 pm

The 2025 Munich Oktoberfest kicks off on Saturday, September 20 when Munich’s Mayor taps the first keg at Noon, declaring, “O’zapft is!” – It’s Tapped! Over 6 million people are expected to attend the 16-day festival, with as much as 8 million liters of beer being consumed. Only six Munich-based breweries are authorized to brew and serve beer at the official Oktoberfest festival: Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner, and Spaten. This year’s batch of Hofbräu Munich Oktoberfestbier has arrived in Milwaukee and will be celebrated this year with 2 separate keg tapping events.

Beer Garden Keg Tapping and Beer Garden Bike Tour
HB Oktoberfestbier will flow at Estabrook Beer Garden with a Keg Tapping Ceremony at Noon on Saturday, September 6. A wooden keg will be tapped by the high bidder from an auction supporting the MACC Fund. There will be FREE BEER from the keg while it lasts, with live music adding to the festivities.

The Inaugural Tour de Taps will also pass through Estabrook Beer Garden on September 6. The bicycle tour of 3 beer gardens along the Oak Leaf Trail will originate at Kegel’s War Memorial Beer Garden, and include Estabrook Beer Garden and conclude with a post ride party at Original Brown Deer Beer Garden. Registered riders receive raffle tickets and beer specials at each stop. The post ride party is sponsored by Lakefront Brewery and the Milwaukee Admirals – with free beer and great prizes! A portion of the proceeds goes to the Chris Kegel Foundation. A link to registration can be found on the events page at estabrookbeegarden.com

Beer Hall Keg Tapping Party
If you can’t make it to the beer garden keg tapping, you’ll have another chance to celebrate the arrival of Oktoberfest season on Wednesday, September 10 at Old German Beer Hall. Another wooden keg of HB Oktoberfestbier will be tapped at 6pm by Milwaukee businessman and MSOE Regent, Dr. Eckhart Grohmann. Join Dr Grohmann and members of the Milwaukee Rotary Club for this community celebration of Oktoberfest. Live music and FREE BEER from the keg while it lasts.

The Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is one of the 6 authentic fest beers served at Munich Oktoberfest. While some breweries make a “US Only” export version Oktoberfest beer, the HB Oktoberfestbier is the actual beer enjoyed by millions of beer fans annually in the Hofbräu festival tent. A blonde märzen style lager, the special Bavarian hops and malts are the key factors in making what is arguably the most famous beer in the world. The perfect balance between the toasted malt sweetness and fresh fruity hop flavors causes a dangerously high drinkability for this full-bodied brew. This is the taste of Oktoberfest!
