Track & Field Honors Seniors at Marquette Invitational Friday

Marquette hosted four teams at Shimek Track and Field

Marquette University track & field hosted the Marquette Invitational on Friday at the Melvin “Bus” Shimek Track & Field Facility.

The Golden Eagles competed alongside Milwaukee, Wisconsin Lutheran, Bryant & Stratton and Marian.

At the end of the meet, Marquette honored its track & field and cross country 2025 senior class.

Aaron Hughes
Sprints | Blythewood, South Carolina
-Won gold in 200m with a program record 21.37 second race at the 2025 BIG EAST Indoor Championships and was the first Golden Eagle to win two medals at conference indoor since 2016.

Annika Bynum
High Jump | Wadsworth, Illinois
-Competed in the high jump in the 2024 Outdoor NCAA West First Round and is three-time medalist at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships.

Julia Beck
Hurdles | Pewaukee, Wisconsin
-Owns the second-best indoor 60m hurdle time (8.81 seconds) and the sixth-best outdoor 100m time (14.36 seconds).

Grace Mager
Javelin | Wilsonville, Oregon
-Owns the fourth-best javelin throw in program history at 39.93m at the St. Valentine’s Invite in 2022 in Madison, Wisconsin.

Mila Puseljic
Multi-Events | Toronto, Ontario
-Owns the seventh-best pentathlon score (3213) at the 2023 BIG EAST Indoor Championships, the 10th best heptathlon score (4395) at the 2021 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships and is a three-time All-BIG EAST honoree.

Pedro Castanon
Throws | Elgin, Illinois
-Set a PR in the last event for MU with a 47.95m hammer throw at the Private College Championships.

Emily Capper
Cross Country / Mid-Distance | Wauwatosa, Wisconsin
-Set a 6k PR in her final NCAA Great Lakes Regional at 22:55.6 this past fall.

Kaylee Hopp
Jumps | South Elgin, Illinois
-Owns the fifth-best outdoor triple jump in program history at 12.05m at the 2024 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships to earn  and the third-best indoor triple jump at 12.25m at the Panther Tune-Up in 2024.

Audrey Grimm
Cross Country / Mid-Distance | Cedarburg, Wisconsin
-Set two new PRs in Marquette’s first two outdoor meets in the 1500m (4:52.23) and 5000m (18:56.09).

Casey Carlson
High Jump | Batavia, Illinois
-Has 10 top three finishes in the high jump over his career including a career-best 1.98m jump at the 2021 Blue & Gold Invitational.

Gianna Konen
Cross Country / Mid-Distance | Hartland, Wisconsin
-Ran a 6k PR at 22:52.60 at her final NCAA Great Lakes Regional in the fall.

Samuel Cascella
Sprints | Wheaton, Illinois
-Part of the 4×400 team that earned bronze at the 2023 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.

Maggie Olejnik
Jumps | Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin
-Set new PRs in the outdoor triple jump (11.42m) and the indoor long jump (5.39m) this season.

Nathan Hirsch
Cross Country / Mid-Distance | Brookfield, Wisconsin
-Ran an 8k PR at the 2024 Blugold Invitational at 27:21.3.

Gretchen Pfeiffer
Cross Country / Mid-Distance | Coleyville, Texas
-Ran a 6k PR at 2:23.9 at the 2024 NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

Braden Schreiber
Cross Country / Mid-Distance | Mukwonago, Wisconsin
-Ran a PR in the indoor 600m at 2025 GVSU Big Meet at 1:23.28

K.T. Thomas
Sprints | Evanston, Illinois
-Ran a 200m PR at the 2025 Redbird Challenge at 22.33 seconds.

Alex Watros
Cross Country / Mid-Distance | Pickerington, Ohio
-Ran an 8k PR at the 2024 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships at 28:55.1.
