Track & Field Competes in First Full Outdoor Meet at Redbird Challenge
Herriot sets new top 10 mark in pole vault
BLOOMINGTON, Illinois – Marquette University track & field completed its first full outdoor meet this weekend at the Redbird Challenge.
“It was a very solid start to the season,” Bert Rogers said. I was impressed by several performances both at WashU and at Illinois State including new top 10 marks from Sophie and Cole. We had a ton of PRs overall and a very good beginning to our outdoor season.”
Julia Beck tied her PR of 14.36 seconds to finish second in the 100h, the sixth-best time in program history.
Sophie Herriot finished third in the pole vault, clearing 3.73m for a new PR and the seventh-best mark in program history.
Annika Bynum finished third in the high jump, clearing 1.68m.
Marquette went 1-2 in the women’s javelin throw with Riley Ward (39.60m) and Tessa Hollander (39.47m). Hollander’s marked moved her up to fifth on the top 10 outdoor list.
Norah O’Brien set a new PR in the 400m with a time of 59.19 seconds to finish fifth.
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles split up for the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, California and WI Private College Championships in Milwaukee on Saturday, April 5.
