Tom Tiffany Can’t Hide From His Anti-Abortion Record

On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, as Wisconsinites reflect on the loss of a fundamental constitutional right, Rep. Tom Tiffany’s record makes it clear he is a serious threat to reproductive freedom in Wisconsin. Since Roe was overturned, Tiffany has repeatedly voted to strip away abortion protections, block access to contraception, and criminalize care — all while quietly scrubbing his extreme views as he launches a gubernatorial campaign.

Tiffany’s record shows a clear pattern: when given the chance to protect reproductive rights, he voted no — and when political pressure mounted, he tried to hide it.

Since the fall of Roe, Tom Tiffany has:

• Voted against codifying Roe v. Wade, opposing legislation that would have protected the right to receive abortion care and the right of providers to deliver it.
• Voted against protecting access to abortion care across state lines, including opposing safeguards for patients traveling to Wisconsin and protections for the interstate movement of FDA-approved abortion medication.
• Voted against codifying the right to access contraception, opposing legislation that would have protected patients’ and providers’ ability to access and provide birth control.
• Supported an extreme six-week abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest, before attempting to distance himself from that position as he prepared a statewide run.
• Scrubbed abortion and other controversial positions from his campaign website ahead of launching his gubernatorial campaign, replacing them with vague talking points to avoid accountability.
• Supported anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers, which are known to pressure and mislead women seeking reproductive health care.

“Tom Tiffany can delete webpages and soften his rhetoric, but he can’t hide from his voting record. Time and again, Tiffany voted to ban abortion, block access to contraception, and restrict reproductive health care — and now he wants voters to forget it as he runs for governor,” said Tiffiany Vaughn, spokesperson at American Bridge 21st Century. “Wisconsin families deserve honesty and accountability, not a candidate trying to erase his own history.”
