MILWAUKEE, October 14, 2019….. The Marcus Corporation, based in Milwaukee, today announced Tim Smith as one of three recipients of the 2018 Ben Marcus Humanitarian of the Year Award. Smith, a resident of Greenfield, Wis., is managing director of The Pfister Hotel and Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel in Milwaukee.

The Ben Marcus Humanitarian Award, named after Marcus Corporation founder and committed community advocate Ben Marcus, builds on the company’s legacy of community involvement by recognizing exceptional associates who have gone above and beyond in their volunteering for others.

Over his 30 years with the company, Smith has built countless partnerships with the community and has chaired or co-chaired many fundraising events for local nonprofits. These include United Way and UPAF campaigns, serving as co-chair of Pathfinders Milwaukee benefitting homeless youth, chairing the Wisconsin Humane Society Gala in 2018, which raised the highest amount ever for the organization, and his involvement with the Cathedral Center shelter for women and families. He helped to create the Pink rooms at the Saint Kate. Conceived by a group of hotel associates who were affected by breast cancer, a portion of each stay in a pink room supports ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis in Milwaukee. Recently, Smith received the “Power of One to One” award for his role in raising funds and awareness for the organization for over five years.

To recognize Smith’s commitment to the community, The Marcus Corporation donated $1,000 to the charity of his choice, Pathfinders Milwaukee, Inc.
