BROOKFIELD, Wis. — Today, The Sajdak family announces that they are changing their corporate name from Stan’s Bootery Inc. to Midwest Shoe Merchants to better reflect their growing and evolving business. The family has also changed their three, brick-and-mortar Stan’s Fit For Your Feet stores to Stan’s Shoes.

“Our corporate name change is just a natural reflection of the expansion of our business,” said Megan Sajdak Holtan, marketing director for Midwest Shoe Merchants. “When our grandfather, Stan Sajdak, opened Stan’s Bootery on 27th Street in 1950, he never could have imagined what his son Jim and his wife Susan, and now grandchildren Andy, David, Ben, and I, in partnership with our parents would grow his business into today. Our new corporate name, Midwest Shoe Merchants, reflects our ownership group’s growth of multiple retail shoe concepts and desire for further growth.”

The Sajdak’s third-generation family business, celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2025, is currently recognized as one of the nation’s top independent shoe retailers. It has seven brick-and-mortar locations under four distinct retail brands. There are three Stan’s Shoes stores (formerly Stan’s Fit For Your Feet) with locations in Brookfield, Glendale, and Greenfield, Wis.; Waxberg’s Walk Shoppe in Niles, Ill.; Goodmiles Running Company with locations in Brookfield and Greenfield, Wis.; and The VIONIC Store in Brookfield, Wis. The company also has thriving online national e-commerce businesses – stansshoes.com and goodmilesrunning.com.

Midwest Shoe Merchants has internal buyers who source quality footwear from around the world and curate a broad selection of comfortable, on-trend styles while offering personalized, high-touch, sit-and-fit experiences to serve a diverse clientele from all walks of life.

“While our family remains passionate about continuing to offer quality shoes to our customers in Greater Milwaukee, our 2022 acquisition of Waxberg’s Walk Shoppe in Niles, IL. proved to us how people throughout the Midwest are seeking our shoe expertise, the quality brands we offer, and the exceptional service we provide. Therefore, we will remain focused on growing Midwest Shoe Merchants in a smart, strategic way that will ensure we fulfill our company’s mission to improve lives from the ground up.”

Stan’s Shoes brick-and-mortar locations will roll out design and store updates in 2025 as the brand continues to evolve. Stan’s Shoes is no ordinary shoe store. Stan’s Shoes believes in everything a single pair of shoes can be and should be. They can change how you look and how you feel and even where you go. Stan’s Shoes will help everyone discover the shoes they love and can’t live without so they can be worn out of the store and into the world.
