The Stier/Sundstrom Double Quartet Plays at the Jazz Gallery on Nov. 14
Who doesn’t like a jazz quartet, right? But what if you made it a double quartet? Hmmmm…four times two equals…twice the musical amazingness!
That’s what we’ll be hosting at the historic Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts on Friday, November 14 when we welcome the Stier Sundstrom Double Quartet from 7 until 10 pm.
Stier/Sundstrom is an 8-piece improvisational ensemble co-led by bassists Aden Stier and Jack Sundstrom. The group draws its members from Chicago, Madison, and Milwaukee and features some of the top emerging voices in free jazz and experimental music.
Inspired by Ornette Coleman’s Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation, the Double Quartet features a double rhythm section that explores spontaneous group composition, dense textures, and high-energy group improvisation.
