MILWAUKEE – August 11, 2019 – For the third consecutive year, the Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet will be hosting a back to school event in partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools. The past two years, this event has been held as the “Sherman Park Revival Celebration”. This year, a new community will be served in Milwaukee at Wick Field and the event has been renamed to the ‘Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet’s Back to School Celebration’ in order to serve more students and a larger community.

“One of our main goals is to continue engaging with students in the community and incentivizing attendance in school,” said Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet Board Chairman and Carnevor Co-Owner Omar Shaikh. “It’s also important for our restaurateurs to be involved in all areas of the city, and to be a part of the great work already being done.”

In 2017, The Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet served about 200 students and families, giving away school supplies-filled backpacks, food, and more. In 2018, the advocacy group focused on Townsend School in the Sherman Park area and served nearly 300 students and families throughout the day with presenting sponsor Phoenix Investors, LLC.

“The rehabilitation of the Sherman Park area aligns with Phoenix Investors’ dedication to revitalizing neighborhoods and encouraging economic progress,” said Phoenix Investors Chairman & Founder Frank Crivello. “We believe all of Milwaukee benefits exponentially from these events and partnerships like the one we share with The Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet.”

This year, some things will remain the same: free food, bounce houses, games, face painting, Brewers tickets, Bucks gifts, a trackless train and school supplies will be part of the celebration. Carnevor Steakhouse, Point Burger Bar, Saz’s Catering, Pizza Shuttle, and Marcus Hotels will be providing food and drinks for guests with support from the Bay View High School’s ProStart Culinary Program.

Sponsors include Phoenix Investors, Associated Bank, Wisconsin Restaurant Association, Mueller QAAS, VISIT Milwaukee, Frontline Commercial Real Estate, Gruber Law Offices, Davis & Associates Inc., the Milwaukee Bucks and the Milwaukee Brewers.

The event will be held on Sunday, August 11, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm following a 12:30pm press conference with state and municipal legislators including Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, Wisconsin State Senator LaTonya Johnson, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Milwaukee Common Council President Ashanti Hamilton, and Milwaukee Alderman Khalif Rainey.
