Teach for America Milwaukee Launches Award to Honor Milwaukee Educators Driving Systems-level Change
Nominations for the Systems Impact Award are Open Now through January 22nd
MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin, December 16, 2024 —Education nonprofit and leadership development organization Teach For America (TFA) Milwaukee is proud to announce the launch of the Systems Impact Award. Inspired by the TFA Systems Impact Fellowship, this new award aims to recognize and celebrate Milwaukee educators who are driving systemic change in K-12 education.
Educators in the TFA Systems Impact Fellowship collaboratively developed this award to recognize peers who are making significant, systems-level contributions —both in their classrooms and throughout the city of Milwaukee. These are educators who not only excel in their own teaching but also advance broader initiatives that improve schools and advocate for long-term, sustainable change within the city’s educational landscape.
“As TFA alumni, we believe that educators are the architects of systemic change,” said Serina Jamison, Teach For America Systems Impact fellow and Program Director for Future Urban Leaders. “The inaugural Systems Impact Award represents our commitment to honoring educators who go beyond the classroom to drive lasting improvements in our schools and communities.”
Two selected awardees will receive $5,000 to support and expand their transformative work in education, empowering them to deepen their impact on the systems shaping Milwaukee’s schools. With an accessible application process and a focus on showcasing the incredible contributions of Milwaukee’s educators, TFA aims to amplify these educators’ stories across the city and bring well-deserved recognition to their accomplishments.
“There are countless educators in Milwaukee that enter their schools each day committed to giving nothing but their best to their students and communities,” said Michael Nguyen, Executive Director for Teach For America Milwaukee. “This award offers an opportunity to recognize the tireless work of teachers and the work they do that transcends the classroom walls.”
Join us in celebrating the educators who are making a difference in Milwaukee’s schools, shaping future generations, and driving systems-level change.
Nomination Deadline: January 22nd, 2025
