Suspect Criminally Charged in Connection to the Homicide of Cashay B. Henderson

MILWAUKEE, WI – On Sunday, March 5, 2023, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued criminal charges against Cordell M. Howze in connection to the homicide of Cashay B. Henderson that occurred on Sunday, February 26, 2023, on the 5300 block of N. 29th Street.

Howze was charged with one count of First Degree Reckless Homicide, Habitual Criminality Repeater, Use of a Dangerous Weapon and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Habitual Criminality Repeater. If convicted, he could face up to 85 years in prison and could be fined up to $25,000.

The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) is proud of all the hard work of everyone involved in bringing charges against Howze for the homicide of Cashay. His arrest represents one step forward in delivering justice to Cashay and reassuring the community, especially the LGBTQIA+ Community, that MPD is committed to serving all persons inclusively. The Milwaukee Police Department sends our condolences to Cashay’s family and loved ones, the LGBTQIA+ Community, and all members of the public that were impacted by this tragic incident.
