Suspect Criminally Charged in Connection to Shooting Two MPD Officers
MILWAUKEE, WI – On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued criminal charges against Tremaine D. Jones in connection to shooting two Milwaukee Police Officers. The incident occurred on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at approximately 9:22 p.m., when Officer Corder and his partner were dispatched to the area of the N. 25th Street and W. Garfield Avenue for a subject with a weapon.
While approaching, they were unexpectedly fired upon in the alley of the 2200 block of N. 24th Place. The officers were both struck and not able to return fire. Officer Corder was transported to Froedtert Hospital for treatment and later succumbed to his injuries. The second officer, a 29-year-old male with over 6-years of service, was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries. He was released from the hospital and recovering
Jones was charged with one count of First-Degree Intentional Homicide, Use of a Dangerous Weapon, one count of Attempt First-Degree Intentional Homicide, Use of a Dangerous Weapon and one count of First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Use of a Dangerous Weapon. If convicted, he could face life in prison plus 77 years and 6 months and fined up to $25,000.
