Supervisor Taylor Joins in Celebrating Transformation of Landfill into World-Class Recreational Facility
City of Franklin site formerly known as Crystal Ridge Ski Complex gets new life
Milwaukee – Supervisor Taylor attended the groundbreaking event for the new home of The Rock Sports Complex at Crystal Ridge along with City of Franklin and Milwaukee County elected officials and Parks and County staff.
The new facility is a partnership between Zimmerman Ventures, Milwaukee County Parks and the City of Franklin along with local sport organizations.
“I would like to thank Franklin’s very own Mike Zimmerman for his vision, hard work and desire to give back to his community,” said Supervisor Taylor. “It has been an eyesore but now it is going to be turned into something spectacular.”
Taylor said he hopes the site will encourage residents to become more involved in winter sports and biking, as well as become a great option for leagues and tournaments in this region.
The land is County-owned and had been leased for more than 20 years, most recently as home of the Crystal Ridge Ski Complex until 2011.
Crystal Ridge is located near the entrance of the City of Franklin and has Whitnall Park in its backyard.
