MILWAUKEE — County Supervisor Sheldon A. Wasserman announced that he will be hosting a town hall meeting to address the proposed 0.4% increase in Milwaukee County’s sales tax. The town hall meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 25, at 6:00 PM at the East Branch of the Milwaukee Public Library (2320 North Cramer Street).

Recognizing the significance of this vote and the immediate impact it could have on Milwaukee County residents, Supervisor Wasserman emphasized his commitment to community engagement:

The proposed 0.4% sales tax increase and Milwaukee County’s dire financial picture are two of the most pressing issues to have ever come before the Board of Supervisors, and I highly value the input and opinions of my constituents.

At this town hall meeting, Director Joe Lamers will share a brief presentation on Milwaukee County’s fiscal situation before I open the floor to neighbors to answer questions and receive public comment.

I want to make clear that the constituent feedback I receive at this event, combined with the feedback I have already received via email and phone calls, will be the deciding factor in my vote on this crucial issue.

Director Joe Lamers from the Milwaukee County Office of Strategy, Budget, and Performance will be in attendance at the meeting as a special guest, providing valuable insights on the potential impacts of the proposed sales tax increase.

All interested District 3 residents are encouraged to attend this town hall meeting and share their thoughts on the proposed sales tax increase. Supervisor Wasserman and Director Lamers will be present to address concerns, clarify details, and listen to feedback from the community.

The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors is expected to vote on the proposed sales tax increase at their next meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday, July 27, at 9:30 AM.
